Plot[]

At the Five Points Correction Facility Rodney Cain is harassed every day by one of the guards, the only thing keeping him going the letters from the girl he loves. One day Rodney decides not to take it anymore and electrocutes and beats the guard, taking his uniform and walking out of the prison. As he is about to take the guard's car, he is discovered by another guard. Rodney beats him unconscious before escaping in the car.

On the drive to the office Lloyd asks for love advice regarding Julianne. Shea tells him about a foolproof method, fire and ice, promising him if he ignores Julianne instead of giving her attention she will come to him. Erica thinks this is nonsense but Lloyd dismisses her.

When Ray arrives at the office, Julianne tells him Bard Kelly is there. Brad, a former colleague and now bounty hunter, is after Rodney as well, asking Ray to help each other out, but Ray doesn't make him any promises since he has his team to think about. When he's sees Brad out, the cons are just arriving - with Lloyd ignoring Julianne, much to her bewilderment. Ignoring Erica's questions about Brad, Ray starts to discuss the case with the team:

Six years ago 18-year old Rodney was dating 16-year old Lorraine Hamilton whose step-father was against the relationship. Rodney killed him, earning a life sentence. As he has shown himself to be violent against the guards, and there is a gun in the car he stole, Rodney is considered armed and dangerous. Ray declares the most important thing is to find Lorraine. While the campus police looks for her at her campus, they will go to her mother's house.

Lorraine's mother, Candice, tells them she hasn't seen or heard from Rodney since the trial. She appears to be worried, professing to love her daughter more than anything. However, her house is full of pictures of herself in her twenties, leading Lloyd to believe she is a narcissist who is jealous of her daughter's youth.

Rodney finds Lorraine before the campus police and they drive off together. However, Lorraien isn't happy to see him, much to Rodney's dismay, so he asks her about her letters in which she told him she still loves him. Lorraine doesn't know what he is talking about sicne she never wrote any letter. Rodney throws the letters away and begins to derail. When a man tries to intervene, he points the gun at him, but Lorraine gets him to leav hime alone and they drive off. The team question the witness and find the letters. Also, Brad Kelley comes to the scene, but Ray tells him to leave and promises him if he calls in tips Ray will get him CI money.

Julianne finds out that Candice has visited Rodney several times, and Shea recognizes her handwriting, figuring out she was the one who wrote the love letters to Rodney, so Ray and Lloyd question her again. Candice claims she visited Rodney in order to gage his anger at her and Lorraine. When Lloyd confronts her with the letters, she admits to writing them, claiming she wanted to make sure Rodney wouldn't get angry at Lorraine. . Lloyd thinks she had feelings for Rodney, which she angrily denies. Just then she gets a call from Rodney, who wants 50000 dollars from her. Candice throws the handoff though, giving away police is involved, blaming the team afterwards.

At the office Lloyd muses if Candice has an Electra complex, but Ray doesn't want to hear about it. He thinks they should focus on Lorraine, thinking she could have gotten away if she had really wanted to. Erica discovers that Candice got $ 1000 000 from the insurance policy after her husband's death, and that she would only have gotten a fraction of it had she divorced, leading the team to believe she had a role in Rodney killing her husband.

Rodney and Lorraine talk, finding out that not only Candice told Lorraine Rodney wouldn't want her to write him, but that she also got Rodney to kill her husband by telling him he was abusing Lorraine, and that Lorraine had threatened to kill herself if anyone else ever found out. They arrange another handoff with Candice. When Candice pulls a gun, she and Lorraine start to fight and the gun goes off, killing Candice.

As the team is securing the crime scene, Brad appears again but Ray tells him to stay out of his investigation. Brad provokes Erica by mentioning her father and she attack him. Shea uses the situation to put a tracker on Brad's car.

At the office, Julianne is fed up with Lloyd's strange behavior and asks Lloyd if she did anything to him but he claims nothing is going on.

Julianne tells the team there has been a sighting of the car Rodney's driving, and that Brad seems to head off there as well judging from the tracker data.

Brad arrives before the team, catching Lorraine and forcing her to enter the motel room she is hiding out with Rodney, but Rodney disarms him, holding him at gunpoint. Just then the team arrives. Rodney threatens to kill Brad if they come near him but Lorraine's pleas get him to capitulate and Ray arrests him. Shea and Erica let Lorraine hug Rodney, and she promises to write him before he is carted off.

At the office Llyod can't take Shea's tactic anymore. He tells Julianne he had gotten bad advice, and that he thinks is better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all. He confesses his love to her, telling her if she has feelings for him she should just give him a pencil he sees lying around. Just as the transport to Maybelle is ready, Julianne comes and gives him a pen.
